Historia de Etiopía
Lozano Alonso, Mario
With nearly three thousand years of history, Ethiopia is one of the great civilizations of the African continent and the world. In this work the most outstanding facts of his epic are presented, beginning with the prosperous kingdom of Aksum and his domination of the region during the Ancient Age. The Ethiopian Middle Ages saw the rise of the Zagwe and Solomonic dynasties, which rivaled sultanates such as Ifat or Bar Sa'ad ad-din. The wars of Imam Ahmad gave way to the great Oromo emigration and the arrival of the Jesuits in the country, who left so much influence in the Gondarin period despite their expulsion. In the 19th century, the victory of Menelik II over the Italians of Adua led to the reunification of the country, becoming an icon for the black peoples of the world. After a convulsive 20th century marked by the reign of Haile Selassie and the long civil war, Ethiopia faces the future with notable economic growth, but the imbalance in the distribution of wealth and power struggles are generating serious social and interethnic conflicts. Currently, the war in Tigray threatens the unity of the country and the Central Government's Pan-Ethiopian Medemer project.
