Herriak ez du barkatuko

Herriak ez du barkatuko

XXII Premio Igartza

Goikoetxea, Irati

ETA murdered Oihana's father twenty-two years ago, when she was nineteen. Oihana's wound is still alive, but she doesn't talk about it to anyone. She hasn't told anything either, of course she, to her children, although deep down in her being she feels that talking about it would do them all good. One day she receives an unexpected call from an anthropologist who collects testimonies from different victims, and wants to meet with her. That meeting will open the spigot of her memory. The author approaches a painful subject with absolute sensitivity, replacing proclamations and prejudices with a deep effort of empathy, delicacy and emotion. Because the ointment of words can also contribute to alleviate old ailments.
