Guía del Románico en España
de la A a la Z
Cobreros, Jaime
Romanesque art awakens an interest that other styles do not. In general, in those before him it can attract due to its architectural importance and, in later ones, aesthetics. But the Romanesque is interesting for something else. After centuries of ignoring or destroying it, we have been realizing that it holds an extraordinary charge of truth, life, and also mystery. The Romanesque built in its day in the Spanish kingdoms that has come down to us by lucid and determined men, is abundant and often of the first order. This book is an introduction to that romance. In its first part, it deals with different general topics that facilitate the understanding of the depth of the Romanesque and its circumstances, as well as the knowledge of the men who conceived and erected it. The second part treats monographically of the most significant, qualified or singular monuments and also of some towns and geographical areas in which their Romanesque density is exceptional and demonstrative of the Spanish Romanesque yesterday.
