Gamazada
batasunaren indarra
Irujo, Xabier
After the Second Carlist period, the possibility of the Basque Country becoming an independent state was thwarted, and there was a humiliated people silenced by the laws of war and Mozala. At the threshold of the definitive closure of a stage and the beginning of a new one, in 1893, a popular uprising broke out in Upper Navarre, when Germán Gamazo, Minister of Finance of the liberal party, tried to abolish the provincial regime of Navarre. In clear and precise language, full of data but with the lightness of the narrative, the historian Xabier Irujo tells us about the popular revolt, 130 years after Gamazada.
