Gallina clueca
una historia sobre el deseo de incubar
Pena, Alicia
A broody hen is a hen that, without being fertilized by any rooster, has entered the maternal instinct and remains in the nest to incubate eggs that are not hers. That happens to the two protagonists of this story, a couple of girls travel from Sweden to the Mediterranean to think and also to forget, although perhaps in reality it is to escape. Anxious to live the experience of motherhood in a coming and going of hospitals and family planning centers that exhausts them in an unusual way. The pitfalls are first physical and then become psychological, the battle against fear and uncertainty, against impotence and shame. The successive attempts -first through artificial insemination and then in vitro fertilization- undermine their spirits and wear down the relationship between the two, sending them headlong into dead ends.
