Fuga, ruta, viaje

Feduchi Benlliure, Luis
Few figures arouse as much admiration, respect and affection as that of Luis Feduchi Benlliure, psychiatrist and psychoanalyst and a fundamental part of Barcelona's cultural and intellectual life over the last sixty years. An old-fashioned humanist doctor, his work on childhood and adolescence was decisive for generations of young specialists who dealt with such sensitive cases. Since the transmission of his knowledge was mainly oral, Fuga, ruta, viaje, is the result of a titanic effort to bring together his fundamental texts and interviews that commemorate and value the work and contributions of an indisputable reference of Spanish psychiatry oriented to minors. In the essay that gives the book its title, Feduchi borrows the concepts of escape, route and trip from Marcelli and Braconnier's Manual of Adolescent Psychopathology and adapts them to our cultural and environmental moment with the purpose of synthesizing certain behaviors common in the three main areas where most of the problems and conflicts are observed in the lives of young people: family, school and emigration. Flight is the flight from life; the route, an exploration; while the trip is presented as the necessary movement at this stage, leaving and then returning. Several essential questions underlie all the texts: To what extent is adolescence decisive for the rest of life? How should assistance be provided to minors? What clinical conditions accompany violence? Luis Feduchi's teaching is especially beneficial, not only for professionals in the field, due to his lucidity, his sensitivity and his extensive experience.
