On October 17, 1998, El Pincelito, a sixty-two-year-old man, raped Verónica, a thirteen-year-old girl, in the Alicante town of Benejúzar. Six years later, when Pincelito was on prison leave, Mari Carmen, Verónica's mother, ran into him in town, set him on fire and caused his death. This book reconstructs the ins and outs of that true story and explores its many ins and outs. But Gema Peñalosa does not stop at this specific case, but also questions the social mechanisms that make it possible for women to continue to be subjected to so much sexual violence.
