In Fragments of Evil, Wood Specters and The Black Bird stand out, two chilling stories in which Junji Ito offers us a sample of his taste for gruesome eroticism. In this compilation, evil female characters abound, such as Ruriko Tamiya, from Miss Dissection, who insists on being dissected, or Magami Nanakuse, from the story of the same name, a fun work about a writer specialized in manic characters. The book ends with the disturbing story of The Whispering Woman, where someone tries to help a girl who suffers from excessive indecision.
