A tribute to the most beautiful, meaningful and inspiring photographs produced by this modern medium (whose name, literally meaning "write with light", suggests its potential to capture the highlights of our lives). The book begins with an overview of photography, placing it in the context of the social and cultural developments that have taken place around the world since its inception. The rapid evolution of photographic style is traced below, from time to time and movement to movement. The different sections, with their corresponding photographs, cover all genres, from the first portraits and scenes to montages manipulated by digital means, sports images taken in tenths of a second and the most current conceptual photographs.
