Finlàndia

una apologia de l'educació pública del nostre país

García Sánchez, Manel

Finland is a defender of public education; a passionate but serene reaction, ironic but committed, against the fashionable analyzes of our education system, which are either dominated by the apocalyptic voices of the nostalgic of the school or university of the past, resistant to change and often advocates of consolidated professional hierarchies and privileges -also in class and in class-, or by the compulsively reformist voices of the education system, almost always at the service of some political program or uncontrasted idea, more interested in gamifying than in teaching, in promising that to commit to an education for all, egalitarian, equitable, inclusive and of quality. The Finnish (public) education system, ours, is good and dignified enough to make us feel moderately satisfied and proud. The tired and bewildered teachers who have their fingers crossed in the years leading up to retirement are, fortunately, a minority, and the unsalvageable and rude students, an elitist and classist chimera. We have lost the opportunity for a public, secular, free, egalitarian and quality education for all in the past, we have not lost it for the future as well.
