Filles d'una nova era

Korn, Carmen

In Hamburg in 1919, just past the darkest era after World War I, young Henny dreams of becoming a midwife. From a bourgeois family, he lives in the shadow of his mother and, together with Käthe, of more humble origin, emancipated and communist, has just started his training at the hospital. They are accompanied by two more girls: Ida, rich and spoiled, hides a rebellious soul under layers of conventions, and Lina, progressive and cultured, takes care of her brother since they were orphaned. Despite the differences, the four girls will become inseparable friends. Together they will grow and face the blows and joys of destiny: arranged weddings, work challenges, happiness and loss; and together they will also see how the world is transformed, the end of freedoms and the terrible Nazi threat. Big and small events that are always intertwined by the thread of friendship.
