Feliz año nuevo

Malmö (Sweden), New Year's Eve. Nina and Fredrik prepare to celebrate New Year's Eve at their friends Lollo and Max's house. This year for the first time, her seventeen-year-old daughter Smilla is allowed to host her own party at her house, and her best friend Jennifer, the only child of Lollo and Max, will be sleeping there. . Nina is worried about leaving the youngsters alone, but she realizes it's time to give them some independence. Old friends have met at Lollo and Max's house, eager to have a good time. The party goes on into the small hours and everyone seems to have had too much to drink except for Fredrik, who has to drive home after the party is over; just before midnight he receives a phone call and leaves the house for a while. When it is discovered the next day that Jennifer is neither at Smilla's house nor at her own house, her parents do not seem to worry too much because it is not the first time that she has disappeared without warning. When hours pass without Jennifer showing any signs of life and the police intervene, Lollo realizes how little he knows about his daughter's life.
