Was fascism a specifically European movement of the interwar period or did similar movements take place on other continents and not just before World War II? Gabriela de Lima Grecco and Leandro Pereira Gonçalves have coordinated "Ibero-American Fascisms" in which it is shown that the phenomenon also reached Ibero-America. Influenced by the Italian and German European models, also Spanish and Portuguese in the case of Brazil; although it had its particular adaptations to the circumstances of each country and at each moment, just as all European fascist movements were peculiar when compared to the Italian original. Some adopted external forms more than ideology, as in the case of Perón in Argentina and Getulio Vargas in Brazil; others were strictly fascist and even became mass movements, such as Brazilian Integralism or the Mexican Golden Shirts. Gabriela de Lima Grecco and Leandro Pereira Gonçalves have had the collaboration of the leading experts on fascism in each Ibero-American country, who have tried to elucidate the specific characteristics of each political group, focusing on the organization of these movements, their ideas and leaders. .
