Exiliats

Joyce, James

Richard Rowan, a writer with a seedy past, returns to his native Ireland after several years of being "in exile" with his wife Bertha in Italy. There he is reunited with a lifelong friend, the journalist Robert Hand, and with the latter's cousin, Beatrice Justice, with whom Rowan is in love. Soon, however, the freedom of amorous action that he preaches for himself and his wife - a freedom countered by his almost morbid desire to know everything she does - will inevitably lead him to a dead end. We have all made important decisions driven by excitement, by a specific purpose, by passion, but the consequences of these decisions are always unpredictable, as you can see in this great work.
