In 1945, much of Europe was in ruins and divided into two zones of influence, Soviet and US. Only six years earlier it seemed to dominate the world, not only physically, with vast colonial empires, but above all because of its scientific, artistic and thought power. After the Second World War it recovered economically, but its cultural primacy has not been recovered. Are we facing an irreversible decline?. This new study by Pío Moa focuses on the history of Europe since Roman times not only through its political, economic and military ups and downs, but even more so, following the evolution of his thought and the various challenges he had to face in each era. The result is an original approach to a topic that is becoming more pressing every day and on which there is hardly any bibliography; even less in Spain.
