Etxebizitzaren auzia
Engels, Friedrich
In 1872 Friedrich Engels began to write these articles in response to the proposals of the reformists. He wanted to respond to the writings of the anarchist philosopher Pierre-Joseph Proudhon and the doctor Arthur Mühlberg. According to Engels, the housing problem would not be solved by the measures proposed by the cooperators, hygienists or the bourgeoisie in their reports, the problem was rooted in the capitalist mode of production. The measures did not challenge capitalist private property and that was, in fact, the essence of the problem. In other words, the social wealth produced by the workers with their work remained in the hands of the capitalists. Therefore, the question of housing (like the question of food) would not be resolved until the mode of production was abolished.
