Sixteen stories by fourteen authors (new voices and established authors), evoking every nuance of the emotional spectrum, and a wide range of formats, from the short novel to ultrashort stories. In addition to those that can be classified into subgenres with which Western readers are familiar, such as hard science fiction, cyberpunk, fantasy science and space opera, this anthology also presents stories with deeper ties to Chinese culture: Chinese alternative history, chuanyue space travel and satire with historical and contemporary allusions. The volume also includes three essays on issues related to Chinese science fiction and an introduction by Ken Liu.
