Pradera, Máximo
The cunning Pradera has plotted a diabolical ruse in this book (and very typical of his already inveterate perfidy): first he dazzles us with the lure of some sibylline mysteries that some would brand as tricky: do you know what the favorite songs of music lovers as delicate as Saddam Hussein, Francisco Franco or Adolf Hitler, of sensibilities as exquisite as Lauren Bacall, Audrey Hepburn or Elizabeth II (from the United Kingdom)? Filled with this intrigue, the intriguer proceeds to satisfy our appetites with a delicious (and, by the way, hilarious) cataract of anecdotes, calamities and portents that shed a new or hitherto unpublished light on several dozen musical pieces. Did you know, for example, that "As Time Goes By" owes its unfading presence in Casablanca to the inopportune haircut suffered by the iconic Ingrid Bergman? (We have not found more vulgar adjectives.) Well, that incident is just the beginning of the party. Then come lots of messes. However, we must point out that this magnum opus is not daunted by certain somewhat brainy and very musicological observations, but its devious author dresses them in such a way that they shine for their clarity even to the most obtuse ears. Miracles of well-understood disclosure.
