Conde, Carmen (1907-1996)

This anthology collects 34 poetic prose and poems by Carmen Conde. They come mainly from her poetry books written between 1938 and 1951, such as Sustained dreaming, Craving for Grace, Woman without Eden or Illuminated land. Because it is from her meeting with Amanda Junquera Butler in 1936, when her poetry takes a turn and forms "one of the most important poetic bets of the past 20th century"; as the poet Nieves Muriel says in the prologue. He dedicated almost all of her work to Amanda and it is enough to read verses such as "Being a woman and yours, how ineffable / to melt consciousness in your arms!" or "I, your Beloved / the burning moon of the fields", which can now be read in the light of this relationship between women that illuminates what criticism had previously neutralized: a free love poetry rich in meaning.
