Eso no estaba en mi libro de Mitología griega
García Herrera, Alicia
Thousands of years ago, in ancient times, Greek ayas told children stories that they called mythoi, which were not essentially different from the narratives that we usually call stories and that deal with extraordinary events, whether real or invented. The mythoi had as protagonists divine or semi-divine beings, an object of worship among the Greek people. They also had heroes as protagonists who could count on the favor, or disfavor, of those gods. Today those old stories have been buried under layers of oblivion. We live in new times, of two-dimensional idols that travel the virtual space and whose obsolescence seems as programmed as that of our smartphones. The influence of the Hellenic world on our culture is enormous. We are heirs to words and concepts that we use every day. The old gods and the old heroes have not died; they are there, waiting to be rescued. The myths are still valid, and will continue to be because they reproduce the conflicts of the human being. In them we find answers to the questions that concern us, answers that are not given in a bombastic way but rather simple, entertaining and even fun. Although they are attributed the status of superior beings, the gods share our weaknesses, so it is not difficult to identify with their concerns, misfortunes and losses. Greece and its culture are past that help us understand the present and lay the foundations for our future.
