And what if we unrolled all the DNA from the cells of the human body would we cover the distance from the Earth to the Moon several thousand times? Did you know that both Mendel's findings, as well as those of Darwin, aroused rejection, in addition to the fact that they were rarely read in her time? Or that the DNA of a human cell is attacked ten thousand times a day? And that 8% of all the DNA that makes up a human being is made up of remains of viral DNA? Genetics have a very bad press, very bad, in fact. When we ask a normal citizen what he thinks about her, they will come to mind mad doctor experiments in the style of The Island of Doctor Moreau, or biological aberrations that should not escape the pages of bestiaries and children's nightmares, or the the most extreme sin of playing at being gods; and yet genetics somehow governs our lives, who we are and who we can become. This book brings to light unknown aspects -assembling those already known with surprising examples-, orbiting around a central axis- that there are innumerable strange creatures for the sake of genetics, also human, as if bestiaries or superhero comics were only a pale reflection of the feverish creativity of DNA.
