Escuela de aprendices

Garcés, Marina

Education is the substrate of coexistence, the workshop where possible ways of life are rehearsed. For this reason, cognitive capitalism has taken seriously the task of assaulting all its fields: formal and informal education, resources, tools and methodologies. Presence and virtuality. Childhood and training throughout life. Education is not only big business. It is a battlefield where society distributes its futures unevenly. The pedagogues say that everything has to be changed, because the world has changed forever. This statement hides the questions that scare us the most: what is the use of knowing when we do not know how to live? Why learn when we cannot imagine the future? These questions are the mirror where we do not want to look at ourselves. We are ashamed of not having answers and it is easier to shoot teachers and educators. How do we want to be educated? This is the question that a society that wants to look in the face would have to dare to share. It involves us all. We are all apprentices in the workshop where possible ways of life are rehearsed. Educating is not applying a program. To educate is to welcome existence, to elaborate consciousness and to dispute the futures. Inside and outside the schools, education is an invitation: the invitation to take the risk of learning together, against the servitudes of time itself.
