Escollida pels déus
Roca, M. Carme
Year 305 BC. Emporion, a small polis of the western Mediterranean, grows prosperously, among other things thanks to the rich lands of the interior, those of the indigent Iberians. The birth of a girl, the fruit of a forbidden love, will coincide with a period of hostilities between Emporians and Indigetes. Claimed by the priestess of the Iberian city of Indica, but welcomed by a courtesan, Hèlia will grow up within the walls of Empòrion alien to the conflicting interests of the citizens. While the rich and vengeful merchant Heraclides seeks to turn Emporion into a tyranny, his brother-in-law Aris dreams of reforming the temples and worshiping Asclepius. On the other hand, in Indica, Unibelos, as ambitious as a good warrior, conspires to usurp power. With the Greek Empúries as the setting, struggles and intrigues will erupt mixing with personal passions. And in its shadow, the buckle of a courtesan will leave scars that are difficult to erase.
