To understand the work of Eugenio Trías one must, of course, go to his books. But the interviews are a great introduction and often a clear summary. In reality, an interview is still a kind of dialogue, a genre he appreciated. Hence the specific interest of this book. In interviews, he takes the liberty of venturing into his own work, often allowing himself to go beyond what was allowed in his writing, where rigor prevailed. But Eugenio Trías did not need interviewers. A good part of his narrative-philosophical scheme is a thread in which he first asks questions and then gives the answers himself. And that, from the beginning. In Philosophy and his shadow there are hundreds of questions that give rise to the subsequent exposition. As several of the authors of these interviews -journalists, but also other philosophers, musicians, film critics and even psychoanalysts- explain, he felt comfortable speaking. Much more than when he taught or lectured. As if he was bothered by the distance marked by the teacher's platform from which he carried out his teaching activity. In the talk, on the other hand, the distance is shortened and he was transformed. He was even gaining ease and clarity. This book therefore offers many answers about the work and career of one of the most important philosophers of our time, who was always prone to chatting with others and with himself, and which gives an idea of the public presence he had over more than four decades.
