las novelas de Brunette Coleman

Larkin, Philip

Drawing from documents deposited after his death at the Brynmor Jones Library, Hull, this volume compiles some of Larkin's previously unpublished young adult fiction, written under the pseudonym Brunnette Coleman. Created primarily to delight Kingsley Amis and Edmund Crispin, Larkin's irreverent friends at Oxford, these nouvelles take us to an all-girls boarding school, mimicking the popular schoolgirl novels so fashionable at the time. Here are Larkin's first literary stammers, pseudo-autobiographical texts in which, using a borrowed voice, he gives free rein to his tendencies, makes explicit his confused sexuality and unleashes his criticism of the female school system, which unleashed his creativity and led him to become the acclaimed writer and poet he is today.
