Miquelet, as he walks through his grandparents' village, sees the storks and swallows migrating and learns that when the summer is over, their nests are empty. He, in his hometown, also meets a bird, Captain Basil, an exiled parrot who is greeted when he goes to school every morning. But, on a stormy day, Captain Basil, though not a migratory bird, mysteriously disappears. Where must he have gone?
