Els ultres són aquí

de Plataforma per Catalunya a Vox

Rius Sant, Xavier

The emergence and consolidation of the extreme right is one of the most important issues in Catalan and Spanish politics today. Vox has entered Parliament with eleven deputies and is the fourth force in the chamber. In Spain, it is the third largest political force since 2019. Created by PP leaders who find Mariano Rajoy too soft, Vox jumps to the forefront with lawsuits against Process leaders. Francoists and ultra-Catholics from the PP's orbit converge with ex-militants from the divided Spanish far right. Following the entry of Vox into the Andalusian Parliament in 2018, the xenophobic organization Plataforma per Catalunya was dissolved to facilitate the integration of its members into the new formation. The ultras are here and we were not aware enough. In Catalonia, they still cannot condition government action, but they do in Andalusia and Madrid, and they would have the key to a return of the PP to the Spanish government. Where do all these deputies and councilors come from? Who are they? What can we expect? What are the hallmarks of the 21st century far right?
