Els trenta ingloriosos

ciències polítiques

Rancière, Jacques

This book brings together interventions that respond to the pressure of a present: a series of bursts of the logic of equality and the power of "that which is nothing" -from the indignant, from the night to the yellow vests and their roundabouts-; the emergence of populism and the authoritarian emergence of the "consensual" and "police" version of democracy; the revival of state racism and unequal passions: Islamophobia, anti-immigrant and anti-gypsy policies, reactionary neo-republicanism. The book testifies to the ability of a philosopher, whose trajectory has been dedicated to the defense of the egalitarian sense of democracy against its oligarchic deviation, to position himself for thirty years and intervene in the political and social situation. For thirty years the intellectual counter-revolution has sought to transform all social struggles and emancipation movements of the past into prodromes of totalitarianism, all collective affirmations opposed to the reign of economic and state oligarchies into symptoms of selfishness and backwardness . Instead, the interventions gathered here aim to make visible the ruptures that egalitarian inventions operate in the fabric of domination. They do not bring the point of view of the scientist or the moralist, but only an individual contribution to the work by which individuals and collectives without legitimacy apply to redraw the map of the possible.
