Els noms dels ocells en el llenguatge popular català

The names of birds in the Catalan popular language aims, before time erases it, to document the Catalan ornithonymic wealth, that is to say, the different ways of naming birds by our linguistic community, in addition to their appearance in various manifestations of the popular language. Thus, 6,816 synonyms of 387 species of wild, feral or domesticated birds have been collected, and phrases, sayings, lexicon and slang, derivatives, riddles, mimology, toponyms and other facets where they were present have been recorded. The admission criteria have been widely accepted and of course there must still be material to add: the work is still open to new additions. The book is aimed both at the ornithologist, expert or amateur, and at those interested in language. The first one will find valuable information on various aspects of the birds that are related to the names (habitat, behavior, diet...). The second will enjoy the exuberance of synonyms and how these are subjects of numerous expressions of the Catalan language.
