Ellos, los fascistas

la banalización del fascismo y la crisis de la democracia

Rodrigo, Javier
Fuentes Codera, Maximiliano

In recent years there has been a resurgence and popularization of the term "fascist" to conceptualize rather recent political phenomena, such as the growth of far-right parties and the consecration of "illiberal democracies." However, what was once a qualifying adjective that designated a very specific reality in Europe between the wars, today is used as a disqualifying epithet in a very lax way and to denigrate the political adversary. In this book, two expert historians on the wars and dictatorships of the last century unravel the new narratives that structure the contemporary political debate and study whether the revitalization of nationalist and xenophobic political phenomena really corresponds to the original context in which it made sense to use the term fascist. They, the fascists provides the non-specialized reader with analytical and conceptual tools from historiography and political science to understand what fascism really was and if it is possible that it will take place again in our time. An essential work to dissect and understand the concept of fashion in Spain and Europe during the last decade, and to be vaccinated against the tortuous use of political terminology.
