El verano irrespirable

Grand Prix de Littérature Policière, 2018

Brunet, Marion

Johanna and Céline are two sisters aged 15 and 16 who adore each other and yet everything separates them. Johanna dreams of escaping from the closed suburban environment where her ambitions will never be fulfilled. For her part, Céline disturbs everyone by showing her pregnancy without revealing who the baby's father is, indifferent to the scandal that this causes in others. The adolescent's father cannot contain her anger at the imperturbable stubbornness of her eldest daughter, from whom she would like to extract the name of "who did that to her." Amid the family tumult, Johanna tries to cope with the mediocrity that surrounds her in the arms of her friend, the son of her Arab neighbors. Drowned by the summer heat, closure and hatred, the tension reaches dangerous limits that will unleash a shocking drama.
