El valle de las sombras
Tristante, Jerónimo
The Spanish civil war is over and Francisco Franco wants to build a big mausoleum where he will be buried along with the fallen. To speed up the works they resort to republican prisoners. This is how José Antonio Tornell, a former republican policeman, famous in Barcelona for his efficiency, arrives in the valley, and whom we met in the novel entitled 36, which is a prequel to this story. Shortly after being there, Roberto Alemán, hero of the Falangist army, is sent to investigate alleged embezzlement of supplies. Although at first both Tornell and Alemán look at each other suspiciously, when one of the prisoners dies in strange circumstances, they do not hesitate to work together to solve a case that is getting more and more complicated.
