El último verano en Roma

Calligarich, Gianfranco

An apprentice journalist already in his thirties and a lover of literature, Leo Gazzarra narrates in first person the year he fell in love... and lost everything. Born in northern Italy and transferred to a Rome as seductive as it is inhospitable to all newcomers, Leo is unable to keep his job, his properties, his friends. His life is a perpetual wandering through a hot Rome that only the summer rain makes habitable, and he only enjoys it when he can open a book in front of the sea. His worst enemy is himself: he passes up opportunities, drinks until he is unconscious, he feels alone but he cannot bear anyone... This attitude is exacerbated when he falls in love with Arianna, a fragile, fleeting and mysterious young woman, whom he knows thanks to some friends.
