El último día de la vida anterior
Barba, Andrés
A real estate agent is preparing an empty house for buyers to visit when she finds herself in the kitchen with a seven-year-old boy who doesn't blink an eye. The apparition will be repeated and the woman will leave her everyday world behind to, like Lewis Carroll's Alice, go through the looking glass. What is on the other side is a suspended time, a loop and a life. Filled with appearances of doubles and temporary crossings, the mechanical precision of this little novel is related to great classics of the fantastic genre and ghosts such as Another Turn of the Screw, by Henry James, but in a contemporary version in which the lyricism, the Delicacy and cruelty play a leading role, as in the aesthetics of Let Me In, by John Ajvide Lindqvist, or the novels of Shirley Jackson.
