El toro por los cuernos
VOX la extrema derecha europea y el voto obrero
Oliván Navarro, Fidel
(ed.)
Many analysts wanted to see in the emergence of Vox a kind of mirror of the European extreme right-wing phenomena, transferring ideological and electoral prophecies to the Spanish case that little correspond to the local reality. This work by young researchers attacks the floating point of this crude comparison. The European far right, despite being relatively heterogeneous, shares two essential characteristics. On the one hand, an ideology with cultural and economic components that defends a Welfare State for the natives, and on the other, a fundamentally working-class electoral base. Through a rigorous electoral and geographic analysis, the main finding of this book shows that Vox does not share either of these two characteristics and therefore does not respond to the dynamics of success and implantation of the European extreme right. Vox is an economically neoliberal ultra-conservative party and, consequently, its electoral base is not fundamentally working-class. Ultimately, not by the fact of emerging to the right of the right will it follow the script of success and worker implantation of the French National Front or Alternative For Germany. This research also explores historical-theoretical aspects such as the comparative fascism-European extreme right, the extreme right in Spain or the relationship between Vox and gender, age and the urban-rural contradiction.
