El subhastador
Samson, Joan
The Moores live in Harlowe, a small farming town in New Hampshire. In this quiet and traditional town lands Perly Dunsmore, a charismatic outsider determined to organize charity auctions with the donations of the neighbors. In return, he will invest the profits in putting more police officers and improving the security of the town. At first, the Moore family will accept it willingly, but little by little, quarrels and mistrust will appear among the inhabitants of Harlowe, who will see how their day-to-day life is filled with tension that is increasingly difficult to sustain. Joan Samson harshly and forcefully denounces the way in which speculation devastates and perverts the rural world.
