El río de cenizas
Reig, Rafael
A wealthy old man has suffered a stroke that has left him with certain consequences and has gone to live in the Los Carrascales residence, where a global pandemic surprises him. Between readings and routine activities with other elderly people, the protagonist writes a confession that will leave his son: he needs to settle accounts with the past, and not disappear without trying to make sense of his life. The initial ironic distance from other elderly people, the crazy distortion of reality caused by the pandemic in politicians, caregivers and patients, gradually give way to diffuse anguish, the twilight recapitulation of one's own biography and bad conscience, memory of loved ones and the search for an impossible redemption.
