El puente de San Luis Rey
Wilder, Thornton
The fall in July 1714 of the "most beautiful bridge in all of Peru" and the consequent death of five travelers led Fray Junípero, a Franciscan friar, to initiate an investigation into the causes of the accident. And little by little, for six long years, through unexpected paths, they will weave the story together, to end up at the gates of death at the stake. The exciting adventures and the colorful reproduction of the Peru of the viceroys, under the Spanish Empire, do not hide, however, an acute exposition of what is essentially a metaphysical question: the nature of the divine will.
