El porqué del nacionalismo
Tamir, Yael
The current political scene brings us back to certain nationalist discourses that, spurred on by modern-looking populist movements, do not hesitate to exploit them for authoritarian, racist, chauvinist or xenophobic purposes. This reality reinforces the view that it is a reactionary and essentially undemocratic ideology. In The Why of Nationalism, the political scientist Yael Tamir presents a passionate argument against this reasoning, in which she seeks to emphasize the participatory and egalitarian virtues of nationalism, considering it as a force with binding and emancipatory capacity.
