Queen Juana de Castilla is the most charismatic character of a crucial period in the history of Spain. Beautiful, intelligent, confident and powerful, she rebelled and relentlessly fought against repression and abuse. In 1509, at the age of twenty-nine, she was declared insane and locked up in Tordesillas, where she remained until her death in 1555. Four centuries later, through Lucía, a young woman with an uncanny resemblance to the ancient queen, a historian seeks to solve the enigma of who was better known as Juana la Loca.
