September 1943. Five characters from post-war Spain find themselves at the crossroads of their lives. The old man Jordi, a piano tuner; his young granddaughter María, 22 years old; her boyfriend, Pere, who works as a film dubber; Jaume, who clandestinely returns to Barcelona as an active member of the FNC (National Front of Catalonia); and Neus, his old girlfriend, who is going to marry an older man to get out of poverty. The piano tuner has to give classes to the son of a powerful Falangist in order to survive, and Pere sees how the opportunities are dwindling for him. The return of the rebel Jaume, ready to take up arms, will change everyone's life and plunge them into a spiral of love and violence from which they will not be able to escape.
