El noi del pijama de ratlles

Boyne, John

Berlin 1942. The war does not affect the life of Bruno, a nine-year-old boy who lives in a residential area. But one fine day he comes home to find all things packed: his father, a member of the military elite, has received a new destiny and is forced to leave and settle with the whole family in an area semi-deserted and very depressing countryside. Bruno is bored and spends his days obsessed with a fence that rises in front of his bedroom window. Until he meets Shmuel, the boy in the striped pajamas, who lives on the other side of the barbed wire, Bruno doesn't even realize that he is no longer in Germany but in Poland. He is also unaware of what is happening in Shmuel's life until it is too late to escape the horrors that are experienced on the other side of the fence.
