El mundo entonces
una historia del presente
Caparrós, Martín
The world then is a guide to understanding the world in which we live. Written -Caparrós proposes- by a 22nd century historian, it summarizes and interweaves the main threads of our social, economic, political and cultural organization to offer us a general overview of our society at the end of the Age of Fire. Its chapters include everything from the demographic explosion to changes in love, family and the situation of women, passing through new forms of work, the emergence of AI, the power of large digital corporations and their weight in our lives, the Chinese advance and the discredit of democracies, changes in leisure and food, new ways of waging war and old ways of believing in gods. All told in a simple and enjoyable way, enriched by analysis and data that illuminate our reality with new meanings, different perspectives. A first approach to this project was published over several months in El País. This book is its updated and augmented version with the profiles of 25 characters that define our era, from Putin or Messi or Elisabeth Holmes to a Mongolian shepherdess or a prince of the Marshall Islands or a Bengali worker.
