El moviment feminista cooperatiu
l'Agrupació Femenina de Propaganda Cooperatista (1931-1939)

The story of the Agrupació Femenina de Propaganda Cooperatista is a collective biography that outlines the trajectory of a group of working women who organized to vindicate their right to their own space and conquer autonomy within the Catalan cooperative movement. . During the first decades of the twentieth century, in a context of strong patriarchal hegemony, Catalan cooperators, a minority among minorities, became aware, formed and self-organized, in a struggle to become visible and be recognized by society and their mates. However, it took three decades to achieve this, during the Second Republic, also coinciding with the heyday of consumer workers' cooperativism. And they only did so at the expense of becoming ubiquitous in any space or cooperative activity. The contribution of those simple women was beautiful and dazzling, but brief, like a shooting star, like a mirage. Unfortunately, the sad history that inaugurated the beginning of the long Francoist night erased any trace or light of it, in a forceful and fulminating way, and condemned to silence and oblivion that kind of emancipatory experiences that today we happily repay and try to reproduce.
