El mar de Arrigunaga
Bengoa, María
In Bilbao in the 1930s, a weak and sensitive boy lives summers that he will never forget next to Arrigunaga beach. After the war, which ruins his family's life, this child will become a shy and insecure teenager who takes refuge in reading, then a young man who writes secretly while training, with all kinds of hardships, as a merchant mariner. , and in the end in a man who returns to Bilbao and must resort to multiple jobs to get ahead. All these experiences, far from intimidating him, strengthen his determination: he will look for a place, far from the city, where he can build a house with his own hands, live self-sufficiently... and continue writing. He will remember Arrigunaga. And there he will make history.
