El llibreter de Kabul
Seierstad, Åsne
When Asne Seierstad enters Kabul with the Northern Alliance in November 2001, with the fall of the Taliban regime, the first person she meets is the bookseller Sultan Khan, an Afghan patriot and head of the family. The shelves of his bookstore are full to overflowing and he is a skilled salesman and a good conversationalist. One day, the bookseller invites her to dinner at her house and introduces her family ... Men laugh and joke, but women talk little. During his cohabitation with this family, Seierstad is a direct witness to forbidden love affairs, marriages of convenience, crimes, punishments, and silent revolts of women who, like Leila, still feel condemned to "eat dust."
