El leopardo de las nieves
Premio Renaudot, 2019
Tesson, Sylvain
The snow leopard lives on a gigantic plateau at an altitude of 5,000 meters. Sylvain Tesson followed photographer Vincent Munier in order to observe the last specimens of this wonderful animal, which are hidden on the borders of Tibet, between spectacular landscapes and deserts: where the population recedes, the fauna advances, safe from civilization . It is in this natural sanctuary where the feline has found its tranquility. To enjoy the majestic step of the leopard for a few seconds, you have to remain motionless for thirty consecutive hours at thirty degrees below zero. The anticipation before the unlikely encounter enlivens in Tesson, a man of action and movement, a philosophy of waiting. Latent powers such as the ability to glimpse the invisible, a calm spirituality and, above all, patience, "supreme virtue, the most elegant and the most forgotten" are awakened in him, and infect the reader.
