El Imperio romano
Roma Imperial, desde Augusto hasta la caída de Occidente
Barba Colmenero, Vicente
When Tito Livio (59 BC-17) wrote Ab Urbe conditia (Since the foundation of the city), about the general history of Rome, he did not consider it necessary to name it in the title: everyone assumed that this city could only be Rome. How did this, over time, become the capital of the largest and most important Empire of Antiquity? What were the causes that its previous system of government, the Republic, fell and gave way to the Empire? Two names stand out among all: Julio César and Octavio Augusto. Two names that embody the human virtues and excesses between which both systems moved. If Caesar was key in the agony and end of the Republic, Augustus, the first emperor -who for many historians is the most relevant of all of them- was the great protagonist of the transfer to the Empire.
