El hombre y la Razón

This work by the Australian thinker Genevieve Lloyd is considered a classic of philosophical feminism. Translated for the first time into Spanish, it is essential reading for those who study Philosophy or, equally, for those who are interested in the imprint that androcentrism has left on the culture we have inherited. A brief review of the writings of Plato, Aristotle, Philo of Alexandria, Saint Augustine, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Bacon, Descartes, Hume, Rousseau, Kant, Hegel, Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir, among others, allows the author to show the dynamics of the symbols of masculinity and femininity in the philosophical tradition. But, distancing himself from some feminist criticisms of reason that would end up perpetuating the symbolic charge that must be overcome, Lloyd clarifies: "The affirmation that Reason is masculine does not require at all an appeal to sexual relativism about the truth, nor does it suggest that the principles of logical thought valid for men are not valid for women thinkers".
