El hilo de oro

El hilo de oro

los clásicos en el laberinto de hoy

Hernández de la Fuente, David

Today's labyrinth, that of the global, economic, health, political, values ??and expectations crisis, distresses us every day and seems to have no way out. How to find an accurate guide? Where are the authorized voices that guide us? Does it make sense to look for the keys of the present and the future in the past? As if unrolling a magic ball, a tenuous but firm thread can be followed throughout the history of our culture -the incarnate of Ariadna or the golden of Plato- that leads to a better place and connects with a chosen group of mentors almost providential. Perhaps all history is contained in a reduced number of key authors and works, endowed with a model, primordial and almost prophetic character. They are, of course, those we call "classics", among which the Greco-Latin stand out. And it is that, in the historical and literary experience of the ancient world -from Homer to Virgil, from Athenian democracy to the Roman republic-, one can find a source of inspiration, intuition and advice that never runs out. This book reflects on the classical motifs, symbols, ideas and metaphors that can guide us in our labyrinth today: collectively, to better live in society and the political community; individually, to be happier in the face of difficulties, illness or death.
